Critical Infrastructure Protection
With the impending threat of cyber terrorism, iSec is pursuing research to help protect our nation’s critical infrastructures, which are controlled and operated by computers, networks, embedded devices and software systems. Protecting these infrastructures is important to the safety of both public and private industry. Global business, industry, government – even society itself – cannot function if any critical infrastructure is degraded, disabled or destroyed.

Telecommunications Security
Previously operating as a fixed-line analog, telephones and cell phones currently run almost exclusively on the public switched telephone network (PSTN) system. However, the system was not originally designed for open access, leading to a dangerously low level of protection against fraud and confidentiality. Fame and monetary gain are just some of the motives for hacking into a telecommunications system. Yet in today’s volatile geopolitical climate, the scope of an attack (and resulting damage) could be much greater.
